REACH in the ECKA Granules Group

After a long legislative process REACH was adopted in December 2006 and published as Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 in the Official Journal of the European Union No L 396 on 30th of December. On 1st of July 2007, the REACH regulation came fully into force for all member states. A registration dossier with comprehensive substance information is mandatory for every substance manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 ton or more per year. Depending on the hazard rating of each material, it may be necessary to apply for usage authorisation. Restrictions and prohibitions of use can be ordered.

For registration of existing substances the regulation laid down staggered deadlines depending on hazard properties and the yearly introduced quantity. According to category, the dossiers of the materials which can be registered must be delivered by 1st of December 2010, 1st of June 2013 or 1st of June 2018 respectively. In order to qualify for these transition periods, a pre-registration is imperative.
